Joshua 14; Joshua 15; Joshua 16; Joshua 17; Joshua 18; Joshua 19
The land is divided by lot among 9½ tribes. Caleb inherits Hebron as a special reward for his faithfulness. Judah is given an inheritance in Canaan. The Jebusites dwell with Judah at Jerusalem. The children of Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh) receive their inheritances. Some Canaanites continue to dwell among the Ephraimites. Manasseh and Ephraim both receive an additional inheritance. Ephraim is to drive out the Canaanites from the hill country. The tabernacle of the congregation is set up at Shiloh. Benjamin receives an inheritance by lot. Simeon, Zebulun, Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Dan receive their inheritances by lot.
Often we take too narrow a view of life like the little twig on the end of furthest limb of a tree. It is vital with buds and blossoms full and fragrant. However, it would be foolish for that little twig to say it had no need of the limb. Cut from the tree it could not survive a single day but it would wither and die. Its beauty and fragrance gone. To be fragrant foliage we must remain attached to the source of our strength. We must study the words of the prophets in the scriptures.
